There are many differences in planning and scheduling turnarounds vs. other projects. The main difference that I see is that many construction projects are more linear in that you have to start a task before you can go to the next one.

Depending on the size of the unit or plant, a turnaround can have many starts and many finishes so the complexity of CPM management is critical.

Understanding the philosophy of CPM and turnaround work flow is critical in best utilizing resources. Since a turnaround is usually less than 2 months, the use of every available hour is key to minimizing down time to the unit. Every day a unit is down can mean mega money that is lost.

I dubai some of the High rise building projects are considered as 'Fast Track' project involving many acivities of 'Civil-MEP-ID Finish' starting and finishing together. Total project duration reduced to 1.5 years from 3 years or so.

Can it be called as turnaround though the period is more than 2 months.
A turnaround generally involves some type of process unit where you have three basic phases of shutdown, maintenance execution, and startup. Thus the term of "turnaround." The unit is turned around 360 degrees.
Is there any special software applicable to the Turnaround Jobs particularly in petro Chemical or Oil & Gas Companies, available like Primavera for construction Projects?
